What happens if you spend too much time and money on camcorders? You may be developing a webcam addiction. I'll help you spot the warning signs.
Before I start, I'd like to point out that webcam addiction is extremely rare. Chances are, you know exactly when and how to limit yourself. But, like anything else, too much of anything is never a good thing.
If you're at the point where you feel like your time spent on webcam sites is interfering with your life, I'd like you to consider the following points and use them to help you get back on track.
Recognize that you have a problem
Here are some key factors for you to consider:
- Having a headache after a prolonged camming session
- Spending most of your free time, or too much time in general, on cam sites.
- Negative effects on your relationships
- Financial difficulties due to your camming habits.
- Camming should always be a pleasure - headaches interfere with that pleasure. If you spend several hours in front of your computer, eyestrain is a common symptom. This is actually normal to some extent, but if you start noticing it happening recurrently, it may be the first sign that you may be addicted to camming.
Next, how does it affect your relationships? While it's exciting to cultivate relationships with cam girls, it should always be secondary to your real-life relationships.
There's nothing wrong with staying home one night to chat with your favorite cam girl instead of going out with your friends or significant other - and I totally understand that it can be used as a tool to deal with loneliness, especially if you find yourself at home with nothing to do and no one to meet - but if you have the opportunity to go out, you should take it.
Finally, pay your bills first! You should never buy tokens or spend money on private shows if it means you won't be able to do your shopping or pay your phone bill.
Again, if you have financial problems on your mind, you won't be able to enjoy a cam session. Instead, take the opportunity to cultivate your friendships on free cam sites and, when you've got a little extra cash, don't deprive yourself!
Everything in moderation
This sort of goes back to the first point I made, but my suggestion is a little different. I recommend taking breaks BEFORE you start experiencing any of the "symptoms" above.
Don't wait until you have a headache to take a break. Like anything else, camming should be enjoyed in moderation. What's more, it gives you the opportunity to miss out a little on the experience. Personally, when I take a day or two off, my next session is more exciting.
Take care of your mental, social and physical health
Your health comes first! Period. So make sure you take the following steps:
- Get enough sleep
- Get enough exercise
- Keep your mind active with other activities (reading a book, for example)
- Maintain real-life friendships and relationships.
- Eat a healthy diet.
Are these measures obvious? Of course they are! But they're worth mentioning because taking care of your health is not only necessary, it will also improve your camming sessions.
You'll be more alert, both mentally and physically, and you'll find it easier to socialize. Believe me, girls like men who are confident and alert, two things that stem from a state of mental, social and physical well-being.
Set a budget for the Cam
Some sites, like RabbitsCams, let you set a daily budget. This is an excellent tool for making sure you don't overspend. But most sites don't offer this facility, so it's up to you to set your budget accordingly.
Set aside an amount each week or month that you're willing to spend on cams, and STICK TO THAT AMOUNT. It takes discipline, but you'll thank yourself in the end for not overspending.
Don't be afraid to ask for help
If none of these tips help, it may be time to seek professional help. Contact your local addiction help centers, or even trusted friends and family members, and ask them for advice.
